I have stayed in many hostels around the world from Singapore to LA and dozens of cities in-between, but Bairro Alto Travelers is by far the best I have ever stayed at, which goes for friendliness, character, security, location - everything! Location: ideal; taff: nice, helpful, make you feel welcome and at home. Don't be too sensitive as to noise - streetlife below and - at times - from other guests. For us it was no problem. Cleanliness in such a place depends a lot on the guests' cooperation, so you can't blame the staff for lady guests not removing their strands of hair from the washbowl. We liked the hostel very much.
