Welcome to The Yellow House Hostel, Porto's newest and best backpackers, family and tourist destination. Right in the heart of downtown Porto this four storey town house has been totally upgraded to provide classy, comfortable and affordable accommodation.
Relax, meet and party in the house or sit in the beautiful gardens that spill out from the back of the house. Surf the net in your room for free or the waves that pound the beaches of Porto and Gaia or walk out and discover the joys of Portos nightlife - it's all there on the doorstep. As of September Porto is one of the recognised spots in Europe for Surfing and Bodyboarding and as the flights get cheaper the surfing gets better. We can hook you up with our partners at Surfs-Cool.com for lessons for those who need them and equipment for those who don't at incredibly low rates.
At the Yellow House we hope that our guests will enjoy the space and not want to leave!. The house has an unique atmosphere and we want you to add to that. It's friendly, warm and relaxed, a place to wind down and wind up! And our breakfast served between 08.30 and 10.30 am will do you for the day - we get fresh organic produce from our farm close to Porto and will set a feast on the table to get you on your way!
We have 6 rooms to choose from:
2 double or private rooms,
2 mixed dorms for 6 with balconies and seperate WC's and 2 further dorms for 8 which also work well for families.
We have 5 showers and 6 WC's in total.
The lounge is really comfortable with Free WiFi, cable TV with good movie and sports channels for football obsessives, books, games, stereo and iPod docking station.
Our kitchen has everything you'll need to store and cook - it's the centre of the house and has seating for 16 around a big old table going on to the garden where you can lie on the grass or sway in a hammock in the shade. Take a book, put your headphones in and get some sun!

This is a great place to stay. It's much more like living in a communal house than a hostel. If you like those big, blocky affairs that feel like dorms (some do) then this is the opposite of that. Everyone hangs out in the kitchen, garden or living room. It feels like the kind of place you could sink into for a couple of weeks, easily. I absolutely adore this hostel! I stayed in a 6-person room and not only was it roomy if there had been 6-people staying at the time but there was also a private bathroom for the room which came in handy. The staff are so sweet and friendly, the bathroom and showers I found very clean, and the breakfast is very good. The location is about a block or two north of ideal, but if you like to walk it is right by Santa Catarina which you can take down to the river. Highly recommended!
