Hostal Balam (meaning: The Jaguar in Mayan) offers modern, comfortable and affordable accommodation for travelers just like yourself.
Balam has mixed dorm rooms, private rooms and a cosy courtyard between the two wings. Once you�ve checked in, you�re welcomed in the backyard area to relax, have a beer, sunbathe, or listen to music and soak up the vibe around the bonfire.
The prices include free high speed wireless internet, brand new installations, free towels and clean bed sheets.
We are located next to Parque de Las Palapas which is liek a festival every weekend with live music, fire performers, comedy acts and food handicraft stalls. There is also the huge Mercado 23 and Mercado 28 which have a range of traditional mayan and mexican handcrafts as well as other special finds.
There is a Chedraui Supermercado around the corner with a beautiful fresh breakfast bakery and cheap goods. There are also several recommended restuarants and bars in walking distance. The bus stop to the beaches and Zona Hotelera is a 2 minute walk away and takes only 5 minutes.

Una excelente opción a elegir, durante la estancia se percibió un ambiente cálido y gratificante, la atención por parte de los encargados fue excelente, un sitio muy recomendable para estar. This was an awful place. The dorms and bathrooms are dirty and messy, there are no facilities like kitchen or lockers (also not safe there), no breakfast, no flyers for tours or city-maps, it is nothing more than a pretty average dorm with a dirty bathroom. Well, it does not cost much, but for what you get it is still too expensive. Staff was friendly and tried to help, but it was also obvious that is is their business and not their soul.
