Tide pools, redwoods, elephant seals, grey whales, hiking, biking, and the famous cliff-side hot tub await you at HI-Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Yes -- the hostel is at a working, 115-foot-tall lighthouse. (And it\'s among the top ten customer-rated HI hostels in the world.)

Fall asleep in former lighthouse keeper\'s quarters to the sound of waves crashing below, wander the cliff\'s-edge boardwalk and watch for native marine life, and explore neighboring Pescadero Marsh, Ano Nuevo State Reserve, Big Basin Redwoods State Park, or a string of state beaches.

If you ever tire of the hostel\'s beach-cottage atmosphere and all the outdoor fun nearby, take a break in the small town of Pescadero or head 30 miles south for a day in Santa Cruz.

Hostel amenities include free WiFi, free linens, towels for rent, Tempur-Pedic mattresses, bag and bike storage, three fully equipped guest kitchens, beach access, a fire pit and outdoor patio, and a hot tub overlooking the ocean ($7 per person per half hour for 2-4 people).

The hostel is also a Certified Bay Area Green Business. Our green practices include composting, recycling, reducing water and energy usage through efficient appliances, lighting, and faucets, and using environmentally friendly cleaning products.

What to Bring

Each guest receives a fitted sheet, a flat sheet and a pillow cover upon check-in.
Receive a $1.00 discount by bringing your own bottom, top and pillow cover sheets to help us save on our limited water!
We have filtered water, but do not sell bottled water.
Two blankets are provided along with one pillow. Return the sheets upon check-out.
Bring food. Our kitchens provide a stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, sink, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cookware, toaster and coffee maker.
We recycle and compost vegetable scraps in our composting tumbler!
Please do not bring Styrofoam.
Dress in layers as the weather can change fast. Pigeon Point is often windy.
We have free high speed satellite Wi-Fi for guests with wireless computers.
Our internet kiosk has a minimum fee for use inside the Pelican House living room.
We have a BBQ so bring charcoal and lighter fluid if desired.
Bring binoculars and a camera.
Take only pictures, leave only footprints.
Hot Tub Rentals

$7.00 per person per 30 minute time slot starting at 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM. Two person minimum. Four person maximum per time slot. No children 6 years or younger allowed in hot tub area, no exceptions. First come first serve sign up at desk only starting at 3:30 PM. No advance reservations will be made over phone or e-mail. No food, alcohol or glass allowed in hot tub area. Towel rental is .50 cents. Please rinse off in a shower before entering hot tub. The hot tub is for hostellers only. Non-guests may not use the hot tub. The hot tub may be closed at anytime for safety maintenance reasons and overnight refunds will not be granted on the basis of the hot tub operations! Single individuals may not sign up in advance without a 2nd person.
