Akoya@Stillbay is a charming, thatched bed & breakfast designed in the famous Cape style featuring four beautifully decorated guest rooms. Operated by a friendly South African couple the Akoya@Stilbay is an affordable accommodation option located in the small town of Still Bay on the Garden Route halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth.
Akoya@Stillbay bed & breakfast enjoys a stunning view of the clear blue Goukou River and is across the road from a nature reserve. The wonderful sweeping Lappiesbaai beach is only 1.5 km down the river making us the perfect accommodation on your trup through South Africa's famous Garden Route.
Offering a range of well-appointed rooms, each decorated in a different but delightful style from the romantic Rose Room to the practical family Gold Suite the Akoya@Stillbay promises to offer an excellent accommodation standard with comfortable beds, deep baths and large fluffy towels all key features. In addition to this the upstairs rooms boast river views.
As a professional in the hospitality industry, Stuart ensures that guests start their day with a leisurely delicious and filling breakfast and a bottomless pot of tea or coffee. Breakfast time is also a time when guests check the reference books and chat about where they should go for the day. Naturally breakfast is included in the rates.
The sheltered and open patios have comfortable chairs, making this the perfect place to have early morning coffee watching the sunrise, or to enjoy a quiet read and suntan during the hot days, or alternatively, you can enjoy sundowners, and just revel in the beauty that is Still Bay as you watch for the deer to appear in the nature reserve across the road, and often in our road or on our front lawn. South Africans usually make use of our braai/barbeque facilities, but there are several good restaurants in town, where you will also find a small shopping centre and some lovely gift shops in the Afrikaner tradition.
The location is ideal for nature enthusiasts who will enjoy the wide sandy beaches and safe swimming in the warm Indian Ocean, Whale Watching, Hiking, Fishing, Surfing, Kite-surfing, Sailing and Water-skiing or Golf. The river jetty down the road leads to wonderful path alongside the river and down to the beach. Other walking paths are alongside the Palengat stream with many birds in the rushes, through the greenbelts or along the coast. The nature reserves, the marine reserve, the miles of walkable beaches, the preservation of nature are important in Still Bay where caves and artefacts trace our history back 70,000 years.
