They let us take a shower before we checked in, which was nice. But after we checked in, wandered around, and came back at midnight, there was a note saying they moved all our bags to another room. Had to go down 4 flights of stairs again, back up, only to find out that they gave me the wrong key. Took a while to sort out, the last thing I wanted to do at midnight after walking around all day...
Some staff alright, others curt.
The shower floor wasn't that clean- had to wear sandals.

I booked online 1 week in advance, only to receive an email at 4am the day before I planned to arrive, saying that they were overbooked and could not accommodate me. I called and talked to a girl with a bad spanish accent who could barely speak or understand english and sounded like she was strung out on pain killers. i'd booked female room, but they gave me a mixed one. later, they changed my room but it was staff's room. pretty far from the down town and it's not safe around the hostel, but they have security cameras everywhere inside.

I liked the staff. They were friendly and laid back. The location was good too. It's near a lot of Jazz clubs in Harlem.

It's a nice place to stay if you don't mind to be away from the downtown, wich its not a big problem because the subway station is just two blocks from the hostel

Very nice hostel overall. They have a roof. We got to see a police helicopter chase! The chopper circled our block for about 15 minutes... not sure if they caught 'em. They mixed up my locker key with someone else's, but my stuff was still there--lucky. Fun trip, though. Nice staff.

This hostel is located in a safe and up & coming part of Harlem in a historic 6 floor brownstone. It is a new, clean, and modernly decorated place with friendly staff, key cards for each room, and video survellience of the entry. It also has a patio and roof terrace. Air conditioning could have worked better and not the best water pressure in the showers, but perhaps those are temporary issues.

It's in Harlem, so a little colorful but the cleanest Hostel i've ever been to. No bedbugs, no rats, plus it's spacious. If you don't mind using the subway to get to downtown it's a great deal.
