Very cozy hostel in the Heart of Alfama (That means some stairs to go up to reach it!). Friendly, helpfull Staff around the clock. As it is a member of a Group of three Hostels (The other ones are much bigger) there is a programme everyday (free walking tour, bbq, portoguese buffet, pub crawl, beach tour). Great hostel - especially for free spirited and if you are traveling alone. Super active staff creates great 'communal' atmosphere and has at least one organized event every day if one wants to participate. We had twin room with french balcony. Great views to Tejo river (from common too). Alfama is part of a town to see in its own right but city center is within walking distance too. Tram 28 goes by the door. Great people, great place, if you are a sensitive sleeper ask for more quiet room. Tram line and traffic goes around corner. No trams at night but taxis use the same road. This was an excellent hostel to stay at. Full of character and charm, the free breakfast is excellent, the rooms are clean and orderly, plenty of hostel-sponsored activities and socials to attend, and helpful staff. Only con during our visit was the hostel is a bit of a walk from many of the attractions we were interested in, but nothing too limiting. I'd definitely stay here again the next time i'm in Lisbon.
