location and staff is great but the rooms are very poor in cleaniness and they are noisy too. beds are very uncomfortable, bathroom is very basic and not really clean at all. recommended for students only. Gabor, from Hungary ~ 8th Jan 2013

I stayed in that hostel for 3 weeks in December and I have to say that I was very disappointed about it. First of all the rooms were not very clean, especially the bathroom. The bunk beds have no boarder for the upper bed which can be very dangerous. Overall I can say, don't stay there! The people at the reception are not very friendly, the girls are the exception! Very friendly staff, quite convenient location within walking distance to the centre (15min), security is good, they have secure lockers which are even available for travellers from outside to leave their bags for 1E/day which is awesome.Free internet and wifi, pool table and large kitchen which is from unknown reason locked overnight (10pm till 8am) so you cannot pick your food from fridge when leavingfor a day trip. I go to Avalon mainly because of the staff but also because it is one of the few hostels in Dublin who offer a single room without having to pay if there happens to be two beds in the room.I have written to you at Hostel World several times asking you if you could please mark hostels who offer this in some way on your pages as otherwise a single traveller must go through so many searching to find that reasonable price for a single and not have to pay for two beds.You do not respond at all. aileen, from Ireland ~ 30th Oct 2012

Location wise its a great place but the rooms are basic and the bathroom could do with a little updating... But having said that for the price you pay its decent enough...
