close to train stop. The staff clean the place every day, but the place is just old and bad. It was secure. I had a great time in New york, but the hostel was only to sleep. beds are awful. I will not go back.

It's a very nice place and a very nice people. Close to the metro included breakfast and internet. It could be more clean but in general I recomend it

My friend Althea and I laid our first night in NYC here at the Chelsea East. It was a great decision because of it's accessible location to downtown Manhattan and the subway stop located on the same block. The stage was very organized and kind, the rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy, and the atmosphere gave us a very homely co-op feel. I would recommend this hostel to anyone, weather it be your first stay in New York or even your last.

I thought it was clean and all, the hostel has an amazing location just outside Delancey/Essex subway station, that really comes in handy after a long walking day, it's got free breakfast of bread w/ jelly and milk, i personally had a good time, no one stole my things even though i didn't lock my suitcase. my only complaint is that I found 1 cockroach at the shower once. So... bad, bad for cleanliness... pretty much excels at everything else.

the showers were always clean, the staff is extremely friendly, and security here is pretty decent. i didn't feel as though i couldnt leave my things unattended. they have a safe for valuables, if you have a laptop or whatnot. i highly recommend this hostel to folks who want to stay on the lower east side for relatively cheap.

I had a wonderful time at this hostel. The staff are unique in a good way. The location is great and easy to access. The security is good because there is always a staff person 24/7. Quiet hours start at midnight, so you can have a good conversation and then go to bed. There is no curfew. The only bad thing is the cleanliness. The showers have mold, there are no paper towels or napkins, the fridge is just plain gross (inside and outside) and the rooms look like they could use a good clean
