Clean room and value for money. But it's location is not at the heart of Thamel which you need a bit walk. Don't forget to take a torch with you when you are out at night. However, be far from crowed might be good for your tight sleep. Jitima, from Thailand ~ 1st May 2013

I stayed for two nights the first day that I went to kathmandu. I really loved it. It is thamel area, so you can easy walk to any part. Kim, the owner, is very friendly and he will do anything to help you. The place has a great athmosphere, is clean, and also have beatiful gardens and balcony. It is a good choise if you are travelling alone. Now I am at my second visit in Elbrum. valentina, from Chile ~ 12th Mar 2013

We only booked one night in Kathmandu and chose Elbrus. However upon arrival we were placed in another "sister"-hotel which didnt have the atmosphere I had read about an expected from Elbrus. But the room was nice and we had a lovely view over the whole city. The Elbrus home place seemed very nice as we spent our breakfast/morning there. A great place to meet people and very friendly staff. Therese, from Sweden ~ 11th Mar 2013

Loved Elbrus! Would defiantly return here and recommend it. Met some wonderful travelers here. Very good location just outside Thamel, which is what you want! Jessica, from Australia ~ 29th Jan 2013

Very nice place to stay. Friendly and helpful staff, free breakfast, free water, free use of laptop with internet and hot water throughout the entire day! The rooms are very clean and the view from the balconies are amazing. Also a nice little garden path you can sit to eat or read. Much better than any place I've stayed in while travelling in India for 3 months! Also it's nicely located, just outside Thamel. I would even recommend it to my parents! Khem and his staff definitely are very help and trying to do everything they can to help out their guests.I feel safe staying at the hostel. The rooms' setups are simple but they do the job.No crazy partying here. The street outside has chaotic traffic so be careful when you are walking. The location is convenient enough so you can walk to the Thamel shopping area within 5 minutes. It might get noisy in the evenings or early mornings cuz of the traffic outside. I stayed at Elbrus Home when I first arrived to Kathmandu, and liked it so much that I returned at the end of my visit in Nepal.Khem, the manager, is extremely hospitable and always ensured that my friend and I were content and comfortable.Breakfast is included and always very good... and served promptly! It's a great place to meet other backpackers also.Only a short walking distance (about 5 minutes) to a main shopping and restaurant area in Thamel (Tridevi Marg). Nice hostel with a charming manager speaking good English and a bit of all languages.Helpful staff, nice atmosphere, great exterior.Very nice breakfast included in price.Just out of Thamel which is a bonus as it's much quieter but at the same time very close to everything you need.Laundry service and airport pickup for the average price,wi-fi,hot water, free drinking water, storage room to keep your stuff while you're trekking. If you have a sleeping bag and a towel, cleanliness will not be an issue Alena, from Russia ~ 28th Oct 2012

Elbrus home is fantastic! I had an accident while trekking and they went out of their way to make sure me and my companion were taken care of. Later when we came back from a weekend at Chitwan National Park we both commented how it felt like coming home when we walked through the gate to Elbrus Home. Anything you could possibly need they will know how to get or which direction to point you in. Some of the best service I've ever experienced abroad. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in the city. Super friendly staff! The reception guy suggested many interesting routes in the valley of Kathmandu. He was happy to explain some hidden and inseder facts about Nepali nation. Moreover, he allowed me to stay at the separate room instead of dorm for the same price, which was definitely less than average in KTM. GRIGORY, from Switzerland ~ 30th Sep 2012
