Had a great time in Ottawa and the staff of the hostel are all lovely people. The night shift guy Jeff was particularly awesome. Of course, this place is supposed to be haunted but nothing happened to us while we stayed (maybe we just weren't sleeping on the right floor for freaky things?) but that's okay. The hostel overbooked so we were upgraded to a two bed private room for the same price and it was great! Actually stayed in a jail cell and all. Would recommend to a friend to go there. Although the hostel has wifi, the signal is so weak and intermittent that I wasn't able to use it most of the time. This proved to be a distinct downside, since I was in Ottawa for work. Rachel, from USA ~ 2nd May 2013

The hostal is very close to the market and the university and it is very cool that it is an old prision. My only complains are that I couldn't almost sleep the whole night because the pipes were clanging very loudly, I guess that is part of the haunted house. Awesome Hostel! We arrived and were informed that they had been overbooked so they provided us with a private room for a cheaper price :) The only downside is that it may be a little difficult to sleep because the hallway lights shine in at night and if anyone is having a conversation in the corridor you can hear EVERYTHING. The location was perfect! You couldn't ask for a better downtown location! I was close to the mall, bus stops, great food, museums-the list goes on! I loved the Hostel Environment/Culture. The Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only thing I did not like was where the washrooms were situated. Basically, to get to the washroom you had to walk a good few minutes, and that isn't great when you have to go in the middle of the night. My Recommendation: Put the washrooms near the showers.
