A little far from the city but in a very cute forest. Also the staff was mazingly nice, we (a group of 8) were there for thanksgiving and we had a huge dinner, for free. A true thankgiving spirit with a warm spirit!! Sebastien, from France ~ 21st Nov 2012

No linens and sheets were provided and prepare to walk or pay a cab to do everything. You will be far from civilization. Sometimes I thought I was in an asylum (maybe because you can't drink alcohol there). Igor, from Brazil ~ 3rd Sep 2012

Really excellent, except for two issues: (i) it's in a beautiful beautiful area (wonderful park), but is really out in the middle of nowhere. If you have your own car, or don't mind taking a taxi, you're fine.Otherwise it's a bus and a very long (1 mile) hike. (ii) I didn't realize the place was locked (from the inside) until 8am.So you can NOT check out until 8am.So if you need to leave in the morning before 8am, be sure to ask what the procedure is. brant, from USA ~ 28th Jul 2012

Very cool hostel in a mansion.Rooms are refrigerated but common areas are not.Large TV and video rentals, can't beat the price for Philly but for those without a car, don't bother. The bus stop is about a mile from the hostel and taking a mid-day break from heat and activities is a pain if you're on foot.Otherwise, beautiful, semi-secluded spot, what you'd expect of a hostel. A very interesting place to stay. The staff are cool. It's not only a backpacker place though and there are people of all ages that stay there. There were a bunch of teenagers on a christian camp. It was a bit of a pain that we had to leave between 11am and 4pm but we were planning to be out all day anyway. The kitchen is cool. It's in a nice leafy area next to a river. Value for money is the best in Philadelphia. I recommend it. Nick, from Australia ~ 28th Jun 2012

The bunk beds are pretty narrow, and there aren't real mattresses rather thin pads wrapped in a plastic cover, which are very uncomfortable. They don't wash the blankets, and the clean sheets are very thin/cheap with a background in public health, I feared scabies. The hostel is in a lovely corner of Fairmount Park (who knew Philly had a public stable and horses), although I wasn't pleased biking back late at night, passing the random parked cars with people standing silently next to them.
