Hostel rooms smelled like a gym locker room, especially the bed linens. The bunk beds were also made out of very squeaky metal and the lockers in the rooms were cage type, made of very hyper-resonant metal. This made for constant noise at all hours of the night when trying to sleep. Could only get wi-fi to work in common room. The location was fantastic though and staff was helpful. Kinlay House has a GREAT location, about a 4 minute walk to Temple Bar and close to the river to get over to the north side of the river as well. However, the cleanliness of the bathrooms wasn't TERRIBLE, but definitely could have been better. The hallways smelled a tad but the house itself is a really cool, old structure. Really enjoyed my staying there (4 days). Staff was friendly as well the other guests I had the chance to interact with. It was fun to see how several people organize itself at nigh on the kitchen. Some said the house has a smell. That's right, but the same smell is all over Dublin as well. There are just too many hamburger & fried onion places. Thats the city smell. Coolest hostel! Really felt comfortable here, the staff know what they are doing and yet are friendly and helpful. Its got a funky vibe to it, internet facilities really helpful, good choice for our group - great location city wise, price wise, activity wise. Highly highly recommend staying here.
