We spent 2 nights in Petra Gate hostel and were very pleased. Naser and Leia were very helpful. The hostel is 10-15 min walk from the entrance of Petra (so you can take the bus from Amman and go to the hostel drop your luggage before visiting the site) and close to shops, cafes... Naser arranged for us transport and jeep safari in Wadi Rum with another couple so we got a good deal, and also booked a taxi for us to go back to Amman via the Dead Sea, Mt Nebo and Madaba for a good price. The buffet

I'm a single guy traveling alone, I stayed at Petra Gate Hostel/Hotel a couple days ago for 1 night. Hostel was great. The hostel had overbooked their private single rooms and the owner quickly offered me a 3-bed private room instead for the same price -- great! Very clean. Dinner was offered and was good (5 dinar, $7.50). Owner and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hostel is 1 minute walk to the central shopping area (cafes, banks, cash/ATM machines, grocery stores) and the bus st

Food was great, especially the buffet dinner as fresh plates kept on appearing!

This was an excellent hostel. The owner, Nasser, was extremely hospitable; he even sat down and played the oud for us! The location features a small restaurant, bagged lunches, laundry, wi-fi, and tickets to Petra at Night. They even drove us to Petra and paid for taxis when they could not! I highly recommend this hostel.

nice hostel..Clean rooms, good location in the centre of the town about 20 mins walk from the gate. My room didnt have air con but it was surprisingly cool (it had three windows overlooking the valley and there was a lovely breeze). The owner is lovely. He was still awake to welcome me at 2am and drove us down to petra in the morning and was happy to help arrange cheap taxis or anything else we needed etc.

It was my third stay in Petra Gate Hotel. First time,in February, I came from Aqaba to Petra for only a few hours, just to see Petra and go back for night to Aqaba. When we were inside Petra it started to snowing and within one minute we were completely wet. Our jordanian friend recommended a Petra Gate Hotel as a friendly, safe place to sleep. The manager of hotel, Naser, picked up us from Petra by his car and said "hello" in our language. The receptionist, Lea, gave us her own clothes, that

It's cheap for a reason! The ensuite private rooms sinks hanigng off the walls and toilets you have to use sideways due to lack of space. The beds sheets were clean, but very stained. The rooms didn't lok like they had been cleaned recently, there were marks all over the mirrors and dust and cobwebs in corners. The people in the room next door had earwigs in their room. We lasted one night and then moved...
thank you for your comment. the room is really clean the bed sheets are 100% clean and you know that. when you arrive i show you the room you dont have any comment then when you meet the beduen man you changed your mine, b'coz the cave and the beduen man cleanier than here, and im not surprice that you write me bad complain.and you are happy to do that. i gave you service to petra at 11 am, then you did not talk to me when you chick out b'couse you dont have any reason to chick out, when the Beduin invite you to slept in the cave for free.have anice day, enjoy your trip.`

The hotel's location close in Wadi Musa was nice in that you felt close to the Jordanians (whom were very nice -- except when they're trying to scam you in Petra). However, the location is not very close to Petra. The hostel description suggested that there was a shuttle to Petra, but neglected to mention it didn't run until 7:30am. Further, it's not clear that there is no shuttle back.
The room I stayed in was a private single. There was a strange smell throughout the room for awhile and exp
