This "hostel" of your was actually no hostel!! I had booked on the internet where we were asked our time of arrival (2pm) and where the rooms were described with shared bathroom. When we arrived however we found the "hostel" , rather a shabby hut, closed (forever???!). We had to drive back many miles to get a signal and phone to the "hostel". The phone number was not of the "hostel" but of Dublin's hostel which told us that Glenmalure hostel was actually not a hostel but a mountain refuge with no water, no electricity and was only opened on a voluntary basis from about 5pm to 9 am! How come these "small details" were not in the description of the place ???!! Your description lied describing the shared bathroom and asking for our time of arrival. Furthermore, being 4 month pregnant, these are the kind of details that I needed to know about... I saw that booking fees have already been deduced from my credit card. i hope I won't be charged as well for the nights we didn't spend there and I ask you to reimburse me. My friend already sent you an email and let me add that it is a complete disgrace that we found no way whatsover of contacting you by phone or email. Julie Vallin

The Hostel was quit nice but there has been no electricity, no running water at all (you can use the river for washing yourself) and no Telephone. I think it is important to say that it would be better to park at the car park before the river, because the river can swell and flood (the crossing).

We had a relly good time here in this little mountain hut, but be warned..it is right up in the mountains in the middle of nowhere and there is no electricity or running water and the toilets are in the shed! But if this is your idea of a good time then you will love it. Frank, the proper irish caretaker chap is lovely and is always willing to chat (about anything!). We really enjoyed our 'back to nature' experience but it probably isnt to everyones taste!
