I'm not sure why this is listed online. It seems more like housing projects. Not ideal travelers. Very sketchy location. Takes a while to get to via subway from manhattan especially at off hours. Hairs on bed. Flies in bathroom.

great place!! but they should put wifi on the hostel..very limited internet connection is the only bad thing of this place, if you have a laptop and you want to check youe e mails at anytime..forget it!!

The YMCA itself wasn't that bad, aside from the cleaniness of my bed. The walk to and from it to get to the subway was not safe. During the day it was alright, but at night it was very scary. I talked to NYPD, and they said I definitely shouldn't make the walk at night.

Just a place to sleep (and use the gym, if you like) -- nothing more, nothing less. I didn\'t feel like paying $100-150/night for a run-down motel to layover near JFK, so I stayed here instead. Tiny room, but it had a bed, a TV and fridge -- not much more you need to get 8 hrs of shut-eye (still not sure if being awaken by the lusty screamer next door was more funny or annoying.)
