Monkey Bay Backpackers is situated in the heart of Ballito Village on the Dolphin Coast in Southern Africa. We are 112.5 meter from the main beach as the crow flies and a stones throw away from all shops, restaurants and night life. A 25 minute drive to Durban Football Stadium ( Moses Mabida ).

The lodge is tastefully decorated in a rustic and artistic way giving our guests the true African experience.

This small and friendly backpackers is located in a cheerful old house renovated to the owners own creative style. It has a massive garden with two braai facilities behind the house where we build roaring fires. You can chill on the hammocks, or take an outside shower.

Our deck in front of the house is perfect for relaxing in the sun and also equipped with a braai facility. So braai here and convert your time spent with us into the best memories ever made!

The unit is self catering with all the utensils needed to DIY your own bacon and eggs for breakfast.

You can visit the full traditional working communities (called Kraals), where you can follow a day in the life of a traditional Zulu community. We're close to all the specialist sports and recreations as well, such as diving, shark diving, sky diving, microlighting, kite surfing and much more.
