The Venice Beach Hostel

Come to Venice Beach, home of surf, sun and sandy beaches. The world-famous Boardwalk with its crazy stores, cool markets and street vendors, talented street performers, skate parks, basketball courts & THE Muscle Beach!
Our small, clean and friendly YOUTH HOSTEL has both communal shared dormitories with bunk beds and 3 private rooms in a nice, safe area.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE BOOKING:
1 - Our Youth Hostel is for YOUNG INTERNATIONAL BACKPACKERS/TOURISTS only and YOU WILL NEED PROOF OF INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL TO STAY WITH US (e.g., PASSPORT with recent stamps, a valid outbound air ticket, etc.) -
If that's not you, please call to discuss your situation before booking/traveling.
Know that at times, we're willing to make exceptions and WELCOME YOUNG DOMESTIC U.S. TOURISTS, however,
-- LOCAL CALIFORNIAN RESIDENTS OR NON-TOURISTS WILL NOT BE ADMITTED. --
2 --- TAXES NOT INCLUDED IN ALL THE RATES SHOWN ONLINE. Upon your arrival, you'll be required to pay the "Balance Due On Arrival" plus an additional state tax, unless it states that all taxes are included.
3 --- HOSTEL OPEN FOR CHECK-INS FROM 10AM THROUGH 12 MIDNIGHT (please do not call us outside these times.)
Dorm beds/rooms ready from 1PM and unfortunately, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ARRIVALS AFTER MIDNIGHT, unless by special arrangement.
-- Note that the CHECKOUT TIME IS AT 10AM but you're more than welcome to stay in the lounge area until 1PM. --
4 --- Know we count with two buildings, the main one is a vintage German Style Country House converted to a Youth Hostel 35 years ago making us the longest running Hostel in Venice! The second venue, 300 meters away, is a two storey boutique building, very cozy and will make you feel at home! We try to make your stay in Venice as comfortable as possible by providing:
--- FREE CONTINENTAL STYLE BREAKFAST AT 9AM (help yourself to tea & coffee, cereal, toast, butter & jams, fruit, milk and orange juice.)
--- The usual Hostel facilities & amenities: luggage storage for staying guests, WiFi, smoking patio, free small lockers for your small valuables (bring your padlock, please!), free Boogie boards, fully equipped communal kitchen and lounge area, Big-Screen TV (LIVE Premier League Football), coin operated laundry room, free all-day tea & coffee, cheap Beach cruisers (bike lock inc.), towels for rent ($2), hair dryers and lots more!
--- Great night life close to the beach, bars, malls & 3 inexpensive bus lines with easy routes.
5 --- FREE & SAFE STREET PARKING ON BOTH VENUES (Street parking does not mean private parking or a closed parking lot, but it will be free and your vehicle will definitely be safe) - Always comply with all parking signs and regulations, e.g., park on the right side of the road, no parking in alleys, red colored curbs or in front of fire hydrants (not even for 10min while you're doing the check-in). Also mind temporary No-Parking Restriction zones due to emergency works, etc. ( http://ladot.lacity.org/what-we-do/parking/can-i-park-there )
--- By the way, for car rentals, you should check out the "TURO app" as they've been getting awesome reviews!
6 --- FREE LAX PICKUP FROM 9:30AM - 7PM MONDAY - SATURDAY (NOT SUNDAY AND NO AIRPORT DROP-OFF'S.) with two nights minimum stay. Once you have collected your luggage at LAX, please give us a call and if our driver is available we will definitely come and pick you up. In the event that we're unable to drive, i.e. your arrival date falls on a day of staff holiday, we'll provide instructions on how to reach us with the local bus lines.
---- Alternatively, an Uber/Lyft ride from the airport will be around $10-15.
7 --- 48 HOURS CANCELLATION/CHANGE POLICY PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL DATE.
Note that so far, you have not paid the Hostel any fees. You're about to pay a small deposit to the booking agent (HostelWorld, etc.) and in order to be eligible for a deposit refund (A.K.A. "free cancellation"), you must cancel your booking on your Hostelworld account page or APP at least 48 hours before your arrival.
-- Failure to cancel in time will result in a cancellation charge fee equal to the first night of your stay.
-- Additionally, if your Booking is for 7 nights or more, we'll pre-charge your credit card for the first 2 nights and it will be non-refundable.
8 --- TIPS!
-- Ensure you bring Dollars, not Euros as it will be difficult to exchange them outside the airport.
-- Get your US power adapters for your smart phones and laptops before your trip.
-- Bring a small padlock to secure your locker.
-- Read the arrival instructions and note your check-in location (2915 Yale Avenue).
-- Download + learn how to use ride sharing apps (Uber/Lyft) as they will be your life savers.
-- There are 3 ATM's close by to withdraw cash (best is Wendy's Donuts!) as well as several phone shops to get a U.S. SIM card for your cellphone.

--- From UNION (Amtrak trains) STATION, take bus #733 to Lincoln Blvd ($1.75), exit bus & walk on Lincoln Blvd past McDonald's to Washington Blvd. Cross the street to "Walgreens" and walk three blocks on Washington Blvd. We are located opposite the "26 BEACH" restaurant (neon sign), at 2915 YALE AVENUE. The bus costs $1.75 per person and you'll need the exact change.
--- From GREYHOUND BUS TERMINAL, take bus #60 to Spring St, transfer to bus #733 & follow the above info.
--- From LAX's BAGGAGE CLAIM, go up one floor to the DEPARTURES level, exit the building and take the free airport "Parking Lot C" shuttle to the "LAX City Bus Center" then board the #3 or #R3 Big Blue Bus towards Santa Monica. Get off at the Washington/Lincoln intersection (20-30 min) then cross the street to "Walgreens" and walk three blocks on Washington Blvd. We are located opposite the "26 BEACH" restaurant (neon sign), at 2915 YALE AVENUE. The bus costs $1.25 per person and you'll need the exact change.
