We have a stage where we have band nights, open mike nights and movies on the big screen. We also have swimming pool parties, crawfish boils, cookouts and bbq�s.

We provide dorms (mixed and single sex) and private rooms, and now our new private rooms with en suite bath for up to 4 people. All en suite rooms are set up for double (1 double bed) as well as twin (separate beds) occupancy !
Also spacious comfortable common rooms with relaxing sofas and flat screen t.v with dvd�s and games, and a fully equipped kitchen with a huge courtyard, Bbq area and swimming pool, provide a great place to chill in n'awlins before heading out for a fun night. The atmosphere is second to none.
The hostel is internationally owned and European managed with a casual atmosphere and located at the corner of 3200 canal St. And south Lopez St., in the mid-city area of New Orleans.
India house has no curfew or lock-out period. Kitchen, common rooms and all facilities are available 24hrs a day. In addition we are walking distance to local pubs, restaurants, supermarkets and all amenities a traveler would need. Or just enjoy a relaxing time in our rear courtyard sipping a cold beer with fellow travelers from around the globe. India house hostel is the perfect hostel for individuals or groups to meet like minded people.

India House is located near the corner of 3200 Canal St. and South Lopez St. in the Mid-City area of New Orleans. Streetcars
run along Canal St. to the French Quarter all day and night.
From Amtrak/Greyhound: Exit Loyola Ave. door, walk left to Canal St. Take Canal St. streetcar (heading away from downtown). Get off at S. Lopez St. Cross street and walk towards the church. India House is #124 S. Lopez.
Or take a taxi for about $8.00
From Airport: Take the Airport Shuttle; door-to-door service is $20
By Car: South Lopez is a one-way street and you can't access it from Canal St. The hostel is located on the first block, so just go
around the block.
Traveling West on I-10: Exit at Canal St./Super dome, go to traffic lights and turn left on Canal St. Drive up Canal, until 3200 block (corner of S. Lopez on the left).
Traveling East on I-10: Exit at Metairie Rd/City Park Ave., go to traffic lights and turn left. At next traffic light turn right on Canal St. drive Down Canal until you reach the 3200 block (corner of S. Lopez on the right)

Honestly I loved India House. I felt as though I had already been living there forever, even though I only stayed 3 nights. The staff made everything easy. They stayed out of your way but you know you can go to them if you need them. I especially like that I could come and go as I please. I felt comfortable, clean and safe. Everything you could need was there. It reminded me more of a collective than a hostel. I will most definately stay there again. I look forward to it! Great location too. That's what a hostel should be like! A pool in this weather is awesome! Location not really in city, but directly next to street car stop, so downtown can easily be reached by public transport. Breakfast and dinner can be brought at the hostel. Only minus point: If you wanna cook yourself, there is enough cooking gear etc but hardly any/no plates, cups and cutlery!
