The Newly Renovated Hotel 17 is a chic budget hotel conveniently located in Downtown New York near the East Village, Gramercy Park, Greenwich Village, and Washington Square Park.
A few years ago Woody Allen filmed his movie Manhattan Murder Mystery at Hotel 17. Madonna has stayed here, as well as many other celebrity artists, models, and actresses.
Accommodations in our safe and friendly hotel are perfect for tourists, students, and international travelers on a budget.
East Village: The East Village is perhaps the 'Social Mecca' of New York City. Much different than Greenwich Village, the East Village offers a grungier, rock and roll type atmosphere.
The East Village is home to many major acts of the past such as The Ramones, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, as well as many punk bands that still continue to play on. The Fillmore may not be alive anymore, but there are a lot of great clubs such as Coney Island High, CBGB'S, and Irving Plaza. (This is only 3 blocks from Hotel 17)

Dollar for dollar the hotel is affordable, well located, well maintained and convenient . My trip was somewhat spontaneous and I needed 9 nights of accommodation at an affordable budget. Hotel 17 was just that. Rooms are small, but you\'re not going to NY to sit in a hotel room.. Only thing I did not enjoy was the wifi, well, lack of normal working wifi. My 3G on my phone works faster and better than the wifi there. But in saying that, if you really need wifi, you can go to Starbucks. Robert, from South Africa ~ 4th Jun 2012
