Travelling by public transportation:

From Hauptbahnhof (main rail station) take bus 725 direction " Hafen". Change at "Kirchplatz" to the buses 835 or 836 direction "Seestern".
Get off at "Jugendherberge".

From Hauptbahnhof (main rail station) take the U-Bahn (the underground trains) number U70, U74, U75, U76, or U77 direction Oberkassel (generally leave from Gleis 3 (platform 3)
Change at "Belsenplatz" to the buses 835 or 836 direction Jugendherberge
Get off at "Jugendherberge"

or

If travelling light, from Hauptbahnhof (main rail station) take the U-Bahn (the underground train) number U70, U74, U75, U76, or U77 direction Oberkassel (generally leave from Gleis 3 (platform 3). Get off at "Luegplatz" and walk about 10 min along the Rhein river on the "Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring".
The Youth Hostel is right at the end (where the Dsseldorfstrasse crosses the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring).
