Love in Paris

LOVE IN PARIS Submit a Tale here | More Tales
I spent 2 incredible months backpacking through Europe and the highlight that sticks out in my mind the most is a Frenchman I met in a cafe near the Eiffel Tower. After romancing me during my short stay there I fell in love with the guy. Maybe it was lust, but to this day I'm still not sure.

He showed me all of Paris. Some of my faves were Sacre Couer, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, the cemetery where Jim Morrison is buried. By night we went to the Latin Quarter and Bastille which is packed with other travellers and people in there 20's because of all the bars, clubs and cafes. Anyway, after leaving Paris and continuing on through my journey I missed my Parisian boyfriend so much that I decided to travel 26 hours via Eurostar to go and surprise him. After arriving at his apartment with my backpack gear and a long stemmed red rose, I was pretty much shoo'd away.

My reason for writing this story is to aware all other tourists of the consequences of falling in love with locals. BE CAREFUL!! The men are just players looking for a quick fling with young foreigners. I wish I wouldn't have been so blinded by the romance of Paris and a hot French guy. All I'm saying is that if you fall into the same trap I did just don't be as stupid as me by letting your heart get involved. If you go to Paris, watch out for the guys hanging around all the attractions because they prey on young girls like us.

One more word of advice for you - make sure you sit at the top of Monmatre at night time where Sacre Couer is because the view of Paris from up there is absolutely breathtaking. If you're with a special person bring some yummy "Vieux Pape" (French red wine for 16 francs) and just have an amazing time. I know I did!!
