ST. PETERSBURG Submit a Tale here | More Tales
Just a few thoughts concerning our stay in St. Petersburg Hostel in June 1999.

The staff was wonderful in helping us obtain the necessary papers for our stay in Russia. When we arrived (though no thanks to the map that they e-mailed us!) they did seem overworked. My husband and I are, sadly, unilingual, and they dealt with us, the Asian couple behind us and others proficiently and professionally in several languages. The hot water shower was really hot. This was a godsend. After walking around town we realized that the great number of bugs we encountered in both of our single beds and the very dilapidated condition of our room's bathroom did not compare to the real problems of people who live in St. Petersburg. We probably had it pretty good staying in the hostel.

The Russians we met were genuinely warm-hearted and we would not hesitate to visit again and stay in the hostel.
