By Train :
If you arrive from northern Switzerland or Germany,you can reach
Locarno every hour (during day time):
- From Zurich and Lucerne in 3 hrs
- From Basel and Berne in 4 hrs
From southern Switzerland and Italy there are trains every 30 min. to Locarno (during day time):
-From Lugano in 1 hr and from Milano (Italy) in 2 hrs
At the train station Locarno, catch bus no.315 (dir.Vallemaggia). drive up the valley approx. 25 min.and get off the bus at the 'Ronchini' bus stop.
Cross the main road and walk up the road approx. 50m,then turn left and follow the signposts for 'Backpacker' into the forest and cross the suspension bridge. It takes about 15 minutes to reach Baracca Backpacker above the church of Aurigeno.
By car:
From the highway no.2 (dir. Germany or Italy), take exit:'Bellinzona sud' (Lago Maggiore/Locarno), drive to Locarno (through the tunnel), take the 'Vallemaggia/Centovalli' exit and keep on driving approx. 15 min, then turn left 'Aurigeno/Moghegno'. Follow the signpost for 'Backpacker'. You can find us above the church of Aurigeno.
