The room was so dirty we had to leave and find another hostel. The owners were very nice but it seemed like the place had really fallen into disrepair. Also, we were supposed to have a room with hot water and a kitchen but did not. Erin, from Canada ~ 27th Dec 2012

Andrea & Alfred are very nice. Good value for price, you get your own cabin (with a fully stocked kitchen) for the same price as other places. The facilities are not the greatest (really dark rooms and shower water that comes from a rain barrel so if there is no rain, you have no water). Location is poor, close to the beach but far from town and right in the forest so no breeze at all. If you are planning on renting a bicycle the whole time it's not so bad. I stayed at Cabinas Algebra with two friends and loved my time there. Andrea and Alfred were fabulous hosts, picking us up at the bus station and welcoming us with a delicious meal. They had great insights on Cahuita both it's culture and the opportunities for recreation that it offers. The facilities at Cabinas Algebra were the best I experienced on my whole trip to CR. For $14/person/night, we had our own cabina with a bathroom, hot shower and small kitchen. Couldn't have asked for more! Andrew, from USA ~ 14th Oct 2012

Alfred and Andrea, the German couple that run Cabinas Algebra, have carved an incredible hostel experience into one of the best regions of Costa Rica. While the amenities of the cabins are sparse (showers + bed), they are clean, secure and comfortable, and a great value for the price. Set right in the seaside jungle of Cahuita, the environment is also amazing. Bonus: The home-cooked meals at the restaurant are amazing, and Alfred is incredibly helpful about transportation to/from the bus s Scott, from USA ~ 11th Jan 2012
