Pretty good hostel. No problem living in Harlem, all people real friendly despite cultural differences. Police station and hospital just a block away. Reason to choose this hostel is that it's really cheap and half-close to downtown. I might stay there again the next time i go to New York.

Great deal if all you want is a room to sleep. Was pleasantly surprised. TV, towels, and refrigerator. Why waste money on a hotel if all you do in new york is walk around and have fun.

Nice people (staff and residents). The neighbourhood is sketchy if you come at it from the east, especially at night, but otherwise fine. Walk a block west for shopping and food. The building is poorly renovated. I was there on an unusually cold November night and there was quite a draft around the air-conditioner.

Might not be the most comfortable place in NYC but the location is fine (5 or 6 stations from Times Square) and it's quite cheap. We spent little time in the hostel as away the whole time so no real need for comfort. Bathroom (males), if not perfect, was clean enough. Females' was not as clean. A good place for backpackers though.

The rooms could be stiled up a bit and look nicer and it would be a good idea to put up hooks in the bathrooms, to hang up your clothes and towel. I will most certainly come back next time I arrive to NY.

Staying uptown wasn't a problem, we got a good feel for the community. Our room wasn't cleaned in the 8 days we were there which was not nice, but all in all it was a cheap place to stay that provided what we needed.

Very pretty hostel. Good location - 5 min near subway. Clean unit and pleasant staff.

Very small rooms, not very clean... Corridors are dark. But It is very well located, the staff is excellent and the building is secure. For this price, you can't expect a lot more from an hostel in Manhattan.
