It was alright, some of the staff was friendly and helpful, some of the others were just a bit confused. I was in a female 6-bedroom, and it was clean. It was just me and another girl in the room, so it was pretty quiet and nice. It's not super clean, but it was alright, the only bugs I saw was moths. Some parts of the hostel smelled a bit weird, and the room got pretty cold at night. But it was alright, and since it's quite cheap, alright is worth it, in my book.

The over all value is very low. Fare too expensive. Run down, smelly and noisy. Good location though and sometimes a fine caretaker at the desk.

All in all - ok...
20 minutes walk from beach, but also possibility of renting bikes for 15 $ (on beach price is 25)...
also they have parking, pool, big tv, fridge...
hostel is old, but we had nice roommates and spent good time in LA...

The place has a lot of character and is about a half hour walk from the beach. Not much to do in the area at night. Most folks just stayed at the hostel talking into the early hours.
The neighborhood is safe. If you don't have a car then it's worth hiring a bike to get around easily (they rent them at the hostel).
I found Emil to be particularly helpful and knowledgeable, so good job Emil!

This property was very convenient. It is in a great location and has free parking. We had no problems except a bathroom getting fixed. I would suggest bring your own towels.

I enjoyed my stay here. It was so easy to meet cool, friendly people, both guests and staff. It is much farther from the beach though then you're led to think from the add, a 20/30 min walk at least. Lots of typical hostel activities here too! Although, I must say my roommate had her bed break in the middle of the night. It collapsed under her and she wound up on the floor. She was fine though and we all had a great time!
