Terrible hostel which we left within half an hour of arriving. They not only failed to pick us up from the Greyhound station as promised, but had overbooked so badly that 9 of us were waiting for beds which they did not have despite all having bookings. Airheads were mentioned but never appeared.Staff were drunk (potentially on drugs.), unapologetic and utterly useless. Some of the other guests were were definitely on drugs and quite scary. Felt safer leaving at midnight than we did staying. Erin, from New Zealand ~ 16th May 2013

DO NOT STAY HERE. I've been travelling a lot and I'm really not that picky on my hostels. This hostel is officially the worst place I have ever stayed. We arrived at 7PM but there was nobody at the "reception". Then the manager arrived and let us wait for 2 hours since he didn't know where we could sleep. Finally he found 2 beds but later on 2 girls arrived and they told us it was their beds. We had to move somewhere and wait until midnight to get inflated beds that inflated ourselves. The beds are unbelivable sqeezy, with almost non-existing matresses. People sleep on air matresses on the floor and in the closet. When you arrive you have to sign a contract with a lot of rules (witch is okay), rules witch the staff breaks all the time. One of the nights the staff were drunk, they were arguing till 01.00 am. Next day both the police, parametic and firetruck showed up at our hostel. The staff were helpful when they were sober, though. Lene, from Norway ~ 15th May 2013

I've been to moonpad a few times because I like the great location which is central to all major public transportation. The staff and management really have been stepping up their management and organization. I see more and more improvements each time I visit. The outside of the house is being remodeled and they just opened a guest house in back with extra bathroom, kitchen, waffle maker, coffee and hang out space. Kylie, from Australia ~ 6th May 2013

the thing I liked the most was the atmosphere and location. The Moonpad hostel was very close to the Subway. Free waffles in the morning and awesome hang out BBQ spot in the back. Would recommend booking because its a great value for your money. Niklas, from Italy ~ 22nd Apr 2013

If you want to enjoy your stay in LA, choose another hostel!!! Even if the location is quite central, it was one of the worst hostel experiences I ever had. I got an airbed lying on the floor which deflated itself every night! Terribly uncomfortable. Staff tried to be friendly but the atmosphere in general was unfriendly (other guests) and very loud surroundings. No real possibilities to relax. Kitchen equipment very poor, no space in fridge, promised breakfast non existent. Unclean in general. Kathleen, from Germany ~ 13th Apr 2013

The MoonPad has a great vibe very good energy with the people and staff. Jay was the one that helped me out and he was a great staff member. MoonPad is super close to the city and subway. The Metro is across the st super convenient for getting around the area. What I loved was seeing the development of the property. I heard that they just opened up and they are still adding really awesome creative art and furniture to the space. Oh and Derrick the founder is so chill very nice guy! I think they need to charge more money so they can raise the level of service. I told them to do this and they did it the next day, so lets see if they can come through. They dont have pancakes in the morning, which sucked, but other than that, its a fair bargain that needs a little more effort to be just right. jamison, from USA ~ 6th Apr 2013
