Richard was extremely personable and enthusiastically told us about Lijiang and the surrounding area. Auntie fed us a most delicious homecooked meal of 7-8 dishes on our first night there even without their hot spices! There were free movies, pool and internet and when I couldn't email, River fixed it right away. In mid April the temperature was mild and the hutong was blossoming with flowers.Relaxing, breathtaking, charming! Exceptional value for the money. Helen, from USA ~ 21st Apr 2013

Very helpful and friendly staff. I was not well when I arrived at the hostel, a member of staff took me to a pharmacy late at night when i needed pills. Nice comfortable rooms, and a beautiful courtyard to relax in. Tania, from New Zealand ~ 4th Feb 2013

The Panba is perfectly situated in the old district, nestled along a quiet, traditional lane that leads to the sales gauntlet of endless shops, which, however, do not engage in in-your-face hard sell. If you love the idea of buying souvenirs as keepsakes and reminders of your experience of buying souvenirs, you will be able to fill hours that way.
