on our floor, dirty dishes stayed during 5 days, and nobody in the staff take the responsability to clean it... i know it's not their job but after 5 days do it!... The showers was never clean during 5 days, always the same hairs inside and old soap. No kitchen, just a small and very dirty microwave, and the same for the fridge. room was dirty, and too small no activity is organized inside the backpacker, no organisation for booking extra night. I do not recommend for sure this place. Pierre Henri, from France ~ 2nd Jun 2013

Good, quiet hostel and very good location for any needs in downtown Vancouver George Trefor, from England ~ 10th May 2013

The hostel was perfectly located with tons of parking. We liked being able to come and go as we pleased once we were checked in. The staff were friendly and the room was cozy. Katey, from USA ~ 12th Apr 2013

They should have locks to rent for the lockers. Comfortable beds but the roomate was annoying. Kalawna, from Canada ~ 17th Jan 2013

The St. Clair Hotel and Hostel is a very nice hostel located in the heart of Vancouver. The staff were very friendly and approachable, and the rooms a large and spacious. The hostel offers FREE wifi and heater. The only problem is that this hostel is almost like a "ghost house". I had neither met nor saw a single person living in this hostel. This is a good hostel if you like quite & want privacy. The facilities are a bit outdated & needs upgrade. Overall, great place if you like old furniture. Roy, from USA ~ 9th Jan 2013

Very nice place in a cool location close to the SkyTrain and Canada Line. Though I never saw any other people neither staff or guests. Pretty sad. Nikolaj Christian, from Denmark ~ 7th Jan 2013

Been here a few nights now, extremely quiet, would have to guess that there have been no more than half a dozen guests staying here. If you want simple rooms, with decent enough bathrooms and just a place to leave your bags in a great location, then I would recommend St Clair for sure! There are no kitchen facilities but it's Vancouver, why would you want to eat in? Beau, from Australia ~ 23rd Nov 2012

Good location, tidy rooms, wi-fi doesn´t work inside rooms. Good value for money, I recommend it! Vitor, from Brazil ~ 25th Aug 2012

This was the first time I stayed in a hostel and it was such a good experience. I got to meet people from all around the world and made many new friends. A hostel experience is not the same as a hotel experience. You have to be comfortable with sharing a room, seeing people all the time and sharing bathrooms. Essentially if you are comfortable with a university/college dorm lifestyle, you will be good. St. Claire is very nicely located in the downtown area and is very safe. I had a great time!
