Stand Fast Hostel in , Brazilie

I am sure i was staying in a HOSTEL, but i was not allowed to drink my own bottle of wine unless i paid 4 euro's to the staff.I was also not allowed to bring my bottle of water to my room. No one is allowed to have a drink on the roof terrace. Breakfast is from 7.00 am untill 10.00 am.. When you arrive at 9.45 for breakfast almost everything is finished and they dont provide anything anymore, i guess you missed breakfast then, is what they say! its all so unfriendly... We were a mature couple, staying over the New Year period. The area around the hostel was generally closed from NYE to late New Years Day, so food and restaurants were hard to find. The hostel was generally quiet, despite the festivities. Great location - close to the Metro and good bus service. We walked to Copacabana for the fireworks. Breakfast often had run out by the time we arrived downstairs - they seemed reluctant to re supply the tables. The shower stall were too small to dress in. Lyn, from Australia ~ 30th Dec 2012

A localização é boa, o ambiente muito agradável e os funcionários prestativos. Eu apenas sugeriria colocar sabonete nos banheiros dos quartos (no que eu fiquei não havia) porque pegar o sabonete individual a todo momento, na mala, só para lavar as mãos é cansativo. Stand Fast Hostel lives up to its reputation as one of Rio de Janeiro's premier destinations for discerning travelers.It has an incredible location in Botafogo just a few blocks away from many restaurants, bars, supermarkets and the Rio Metro system, providing ample opportunity to eat, drink, cook or access the many other points of interest in the city.The hostel is meticulously maintained by a helpful and energetic staff and I would not hesitate recommending this hostel to anyone! Can't recommend this hostel highly enough. Its located conveniently next to the metro which makes it easy to go to ipanema or copacabana for a beach day, or if you want to stay in Botafogo there are plenty of bars and places to go near the hostel. There is also a grocery store nearby which makes it easy to eat for cheap, as the hostel has a kitchen that is open 24/7. I can't rave enough about the staff, who are extremely friendly and more than willing to help you with anything. 5 stars. Matt, from USA ~ 3rd Jul 2012
