Pousada de Juventude de Leiria is a former mansion of the 1st viscount of Saint Sebastian from the 19th century, located in the historical city centre at walking distance from the bus station. At the reception, you will find the magnificent Portuguese pavement in marble. A stone stairway gives access to the first floor where you can admire the magnificent paintings in the ceiling, and the stairway walls are remarkably painted as fake marble. The dorms and double room ceilings have the original 19th century plaster works that decorate the entire ceiling.
The dorms have lockers where you can keep your bags with no extra charge. Some of the double rooms have private balconies overlooking the garden, while the dorms have narrow front balconies with views to the castle, which is lit up at night. The bathrooms are separated for men and women. There is also a friendly common room with TV, large and well-furnished member's kitchen, and an almost magical garden with dining tables, flowering plants, and a small amphitheatre.
In the morning the hostel serves a continental breakfast.

There are plenty of good reasons for you to visit Leiria. As in many other cities, the castle is always the ideal starting point to get a good view of the town.
