If you wanna enjoy the beach and surfing this place is the best choice but it is kinda far away from the other activities in LA, you have to use buses a lot which they are so inefficient Gunes, from Turkey ~ 7th Jan 2010

Hermosa Beach is a little beach community in West LA, I was expecting it to be "gritty" for being in LA but it is so nice, hospitable and clean. Surf City is seconds from the beach, with shops and bars at your fingertips. There's a good kitchen. Bike hire is handy and cheap. On the downside, bring earplugs because the dorms are above a niteclub. The bass is so heavy the walls vibrate. Fab (staff) is little bit crazy, but totally professional.
