Firstly, it was in a favela. But don't let that put you off. There were police cars stationed at the bottom and top 24/7 so safety was never an issue. It is also in a family orientated neighbour hood so no city of god shoot outs would ever take place here. It was a great experience and I would recommend it. The family running it were also fantastically welcoming and the view was superb. Copocabana was very close too. George, from England ~ 26th Feb 2013
