Same as other comments. 50% of the hostel was good, 50% was bad. Beds were new but hard to sleep on (you could feel the coils). Rooms were big and clean, bathrooms were small and dirty.

We had a problem with room reveservation. They sold our earlier reserved room to someone else and had to organize something on the fly. The reserved room was 4-bed but we had to split and each of us slept in different room. We have seen more peaple having same problem; 2 students (also with reservation) which arrive later in the evening had to find another hostel! 5th Avenue Spot has a serius problem with that. Be warned!

In the whole it was OK,but I'd say be ready to the tiny bathroom, which isn't really a bathroom, but a small shower cabin. The kitchen is nice and they've got a big flat-screen TV. They've got no elevator, which means that if you're goona have a room on the 3-4-5 floor,You'll be carrying your luggage up to the top.
Make sure you check out before 11,otherwise they'll charge you.

It's in Harlem which is a bit scary, but it's only a little walk from the subway. Not a good idea to do it at night though. Little to do in the hostel, there's a back garden for smoking in, a kitchen/dining area with a TV which is as close as it gets to a lounge.

I loved the place. It's was a little bit too far from the shops but the location was safe and transport easy.
