If this was close to civilization it would a decent place to stay however u HAVE to have a car. its in the middle of the woods w/ no hiking trails/ways to take advantage of the surroundings. literally nothing but a nice view. If you dont have a vehicle they charge 20 euros each way if for pick up at Cecina station, a PER PERSON fee. My advice... pay the 50 something euro charge to stay in pisa instead. cheaper and less hassle.

The refuge was the best place we could have hoped for to start our Italian vacation! The staff is amazing, as well as the food and our room!

BE WARNED: This place is very isolated and at the end of a long, rutted driveway. We were told multiple times that dinner was free. Dinner was nice, but simple (eg. soup). Late on our last night it was demanded that we pay 40 euro per meal. The owner said there had been a \"misunderstanding\" and that the price was set out in a sign in the kitchen (we checked - no sign). Given the late hour and isolation, we had little choice but to pay. We left feeling ripped off and intimidated.

The road to the place are really bad. And we are from a country known for terribel roads. The food, breakfast and the only dinner we ate, was poor. Only dry bisquits for breakfast and a small portion of jam. But the location was fine and peacefull.
