I've had really good time in Asakusa Smile. It's located near Asakusa Station and people live there know where the hostels are(so it's easy to find except the truth that most of residences are weak at English...). Asakusa Smile has its own bar so we can easily talk to someone else from diverse nations. Resonable price, fast internet, frendly people... It was great experience. Very low security. Not enough lockers and no locks on the doors. The staff were nice and friendly, but didn't even take down my name or copy my identification when I arrived. Although the place is extremely clean, there are not nearly enough showers, computers, toilets, or outlets for the amount of guests staying. There IS a bar in the lobby area, but because of that there isn't a 'living area' where guests can relax.

Free wifi, free computers to use, kitchen area, free drink on arrival in their own bar. Hostel parties with food / drink deals. Not in central Tokyo but in a nice area with markets and plenty going on. Would use again. Chris, from England ~ 8th Dec 2011

It's clean enough and close enough to the subway. The fact that the check in counter is closed for three hours in the middle of the day is rather inconvenient.

The rooms were exceptionally small (even by Japan Hostel standards), the rooms were also dirty and one of our pillows was a sack of rice. We left within 24 hours due to the horrible facilities (toilet and shower were unclean and awkward to move around in) and instead moved to a much better Asakusa hostel chain.

noise in common areas, tell the guests that did not hit the doors and the doors creak a lot, require oil!

Our main concern was the chaotic nature of the electrical fittings and the wi-fi, which seemed to go wrong frequently. Although the current staff did their best - mainly back-packers staying free in exchange for a couple of hours work a day -the place seemed run down, as though no-one was bothering to maintain things and actually spend money on the place. And our double room was tiny with bunk beds. But the location is superb - an easy walk from Asakusa station. Elizabeth, from England ~ 15th Dec 2011

I think Asakusa smile is a good hostel. Rooms are standard. The computer room was good, 4 online computers, but since a lot of guests bring their on laptops there was almost a computer free anytime. The toilets and showers was ok, and the kitchen was also okey. God location!

This hostel was ok, we didn't spend a lot of time there. It was mostly just a place to get a bit of sleep and keep our stuff. The check out time was a little early 10am. We forgot and slept past it, although they were nice enough not to charge us extra like they said they would. It's an alright, affordable place to stay in Tokyo.

Good location- close to Asakusa station and Senso - ji temple, even though the first time it might be a bit difficult to find. Not much character - basically a room where people come and go. The bar is fun though. There is a computer room with free internet and a kitchen. It is clean. Mariya, from USA ~ 8th Oct 2011
