The place is well located, close to the city center, the V&A Waterfront, lots of restaurants on Main St, grocery store, etc. The free WiFi and the airport pick up are a bonus. I was in a single private en-suite for a week and had no trouble with safety. The bar is fun and a great place to meet fellow travelers. Very close to the stadium, so also a great place to stay for the world cup. Leandro, from Brazil ~ 25th Aug 2009

The stay in - Big Blue - was okay, not spectacular. Room was clean. Jeannette, from Germany ~ 3rd Apr 2009

Good location, and a nice bar but the staff should concentrate more on taking care of the guests than getting drunk every night! But a fun place and it's very good that you can book tours at the hostel. Elin, from Sweden ~ 5th Mar 2009

I spent three weeks in this hostel as an independent woman traveler. The hostel is at 25 min. walking distance from Long Street, and therefore is a relaxed place. There is a very relaxed atmosphere and if the idea is to go to sleep at the time you planned to go to sleep, this is the perfect place. Of course you have also the chance to stay awake longer in the hostel bar. Being away from Long Street makes the hostel a bit "unsafe", especially the street Vesperdene is quite dark at night. The hostel is ok, we had an onsuit double with a bath tub and a nice bed. One of the two guys running the place was not very pleasant, he sat in the bar all day long and was very unfriendly, barely answering questions or helping out. Hanne Gro, from Norway ~ 31st Dec 2008

The location was excellent. You can walk to the waterfront, de waterkant, downtown, seapoint easily. It's right off main road so you can easily get a mini bus to take you to camps bay or Clifton for the beach. And there is an amazing restaurant called Mano's 3 sec away. The only thing I didn't like was if you left the water running in the sink for an extended period of time it started to smell like sewer. But I drank some if the water and I wasn't sick some I'm sure it's fine. The free internet Erica, from USA ~ 20th Dec 2008

Staff and the cat Skip were very friendly and made me feel at home instantly. Everything was closeby and easy to find. A really relaxt and quiet place to stay in. Only the bathrooms were not up to date but are going to be renovated, good idea!! Water was hot and nice though. All over a comfortable, nice and cosy place!!!
