I reserved 2 nights and one of my reservation was not available... so They finally found a place for us at Jazz on lenox, and it was much better, less house character maybe but more clean and more fun.

All around pretty satisfactory.

The room smelled horribly of B.O. The front desk attendant assigned me to a disheveled bed that was surrounded by someone else's belongings so I ended up switching. The bathroom was gross and unkept (dripping faucets, broken towel bar, hair on floor). Not really located in a safe area.

Great hostel. My only complain is that when I tried to have a conversation with staff they were always too busy or appeared uninterested. But for $18/night who am I to complain!

I have stayed at your jazz villa and my major complaint is the bathrooms and I was told that there in the process of being fixed. But when I returned to NY 2 1/2 weeks later it was still the same. It does not take weeks to have the proper maintenance crew fix the bathroom. change the shower heads, fix the holes in the ceiling, etc. etc. etc. It could be a nice experience but its very important to have clean efficient working bathrooms.

The Hostel was great and I really liked the people I met there. However, downtown Manhattan was a 45 minute subway ride away, and a 20 dollar cab ride. Also, I felt quite uncomfortable walking through Harlem alone as a 21 year-old girl, especially at night. I wouldn't stay there again.

I was so disapointed with this hostel as I had enjoyed another Jazz hostel in another location earlier. But from the second I walked into check in it was bad. The girl behind the counter was so amazingly rude, after a long flight etc I almost wanted to cry. Quiet hours are definately not enforced and most of the time the staff has to come in in the middle of the night to change sheets because once again the beds have gotten mixed up! What really freaked me out though was when I went to check out

Quiet hours are not enforced. Very difficult to sleep from 11pm - 7am.
