This is actually not hard to get to taking bus ten from the train station, but make sure you tell the driver "Vado ad ostello guidericco, via fiorentina 89 ma non so dov'è la fermata" (I'm going to x, here, but I don't know the stop) Tell the new driver if they switch. When he stops follow the signs for ostello di giuventù (youth hostel). There is one on the island in the intersection.

Showers were a bit dirty but rooms clean. The location isn't ideal but you can walk to the centre in about half an hour and there is pavement most of the way. With a heavy bag I would definitely take a bus tho! 4 and 77 go to and from the train station and also into town (NOT number 10 as specified in the Lonely Planet!)..

Far away from town. You need to take a 20 minute train ride to get in town. Dirty bathrooms. Quiet. No bar and no breakfast.

It's a disappointing place even if it's not very expensive.

One of my best hostel experiences. Kind staff, clean rooms and bathrooms. Rather far out of the center of the city considering how small Siena is and had difficulty getting there. We ended up taking bus 77 to the center (walk out of the train station, go to the left and walk down to the bit of road with trees on other side--this is where there used to be a stop but it shut down in April, so keep walking past there and to the right up a bit of an incline and the stop is on the right). Then foll

This hostel is quite large and great for traveling in large groups. We had a group of 12 that included 8 girls and so we were able to have the entire room to ourselves. Also, getting there is not difficult if you take number 15 bus from Piazza Gramsci. It takes about 10/15 minutes on the bus - there is a stop right outside the hostel.

The room was clean but the bathrooms' cleanliness could be much better -- and showers had no door, just a curtain. There was a washbasin in our room though, and having a room just for 2 was a real pleasure and comfort !! The hostel is damn far from the town-center (30 minutes from the city walls by foot, walking steadily, on a rather dangerous road with no sidewalk) but we've taken the bus once and found no particular difficulty. It's not faster but it's safer ;-)
