Set in the heart of the English Lake District yet 2 minutes walk from the bus and train station. The base for whole range of activities from fell walking, mountain-biking, sailing, canoeing, abseiling to vistiting museums and homes of famous writers like Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth.
Local bus trips give tours of the lakes and valleys. The family run hostel offers you every comfort in small dorms, friendly common room packed with leaflets on what to do and a self catering kitchen. We are situated close to local pubs, shops and supermarket, so you can soak up the atmosphere. Good stop over point before hitting the night life
of Edinburgh or York. Look forward to welcoming you! Self catering kitchen, sky tv and internet access, cosy lounge with fire, lockers, hot showers, outside seating area.
**Please note the following: As our reception is not always manned we will email to you the key code for the front door once the booking is confirmed. We also have an arrivals list and explanatory notices about how the hostel works etc in the kitchen.**
The hostel is run on a self service basis without staff always being present. There is a key code for the front door which changes frequently, however, there are no locks on the dormitory rooms, only private rooms.
For your added security, CCTV covers the public areas of the hostel 24/7!
Having said that, everyone appreciates the honest policy and items are left safety in the rooms ( although as mentioned above, lockers are available)
We do NOT take all male parties of more than 8 people-

It's a nice hostel and really well located. Despite there being no staff there, it seems to work well. Liked the communal space though would prefer a couple of sofas to massive bean bags but hey. I'm not sure about the security - I accidentally check into a different room than I was meant to be in and the code was the same for both rooms. Should be different! Does the front door one change? Also this site was instant payment was by credit card but turns out it's cash - could you check your site? Sarah, from England ~ 21st Apr 2013

It was good to stay at there. But no staff I could ask. I was not sure how I can enter the room where I would stay. There were password I hadn't told before. So I was waiting long time until our roommate appeared to tell us the password to enter the room. Kaori, from Japan ~ 6th May 2013
