Whether you’re passing through Oban on the way to the Hebrides, or staying for a couple of days and exploring historic and beautiful Argyll, Oban Backpackers offers clean and friendly accommodation to travelers on a budget.
We’ve got wide, comfortable, spacious bunk beds, and they come made up with linen, duvets and two pillows. The hostel showers are awesome with lots of hot water and the hostel has full central heating so you’re warm and cosy whatever the weather outside
In the evenings, if you want to enjoy Oban’s night-life our staff can point you in the right direction; or just stay in and relax in our lounge with its real fire and pool table, make new friends or just chill out and cook a meal.
Oban is a picturesque town possessing spectacular views across to the Hebridean islands that are simply stunning. In particular, the view at dusk from McCaig’s Tower provides a sunset you are unlikely to forget. Like any small port, there is a lot going on in Oban; the bustle of fishing boats, ferries, yachts and sea birds make the waterfront a lovely place to be.
The port is also a transport hub for boat trips to the many beautiful Scottish Isles should you wish to explore the more remote areas of Scotland. Ancient standing stones are to be found all over the Oban area, as well as more recent structures such as medieval castles and whisky distilleries.
Our staff are friendly and many of them, like you, are backpackers themselves taking a break from their travels. So don’t hesitate to ask them for advice or information on what to do in and around Oban.

We have 54 dorm beds in 7 rooms; the smallest dorm is 6-bed, the largest is 12-bed. We have a big self-catering kitchen, 5 hot showers accessible 24 hours a day, and a big lounge perfect for socializing. All of our accommodation is upstairs.
Linen is included in the bed price, however towels are �1 to hire and breakfast is provided for an extra £2.
Our hostel is entirely smoke-free. Breakfast is available for £2.40. Transfers and day tours available, price on application.

The hostel looks pretty much like a family hotel - great facilities, well equipped kitchen, very helpful staff! A bit expensive for the Scottish reality, but what you get in reverse is a great staying experience. Highly recommended! Jaroslaw, from Poland ~ 10th Nov 2012

The hostel was pleasant, and clean, except about security : the main door of the building Bacpackers Plus is permanently open (\"we are in Oban\" said a member of staff) while everyone has a key to lock it, why not ask residents to lock the door??.
