We had one our passports stolen by a staff member of the hostel.....there was a guy and a girl working when we checked in who didn't seem to know what he was doing. They took our passports to register us and then returned them and he helped carry our bagsto our rooms. An hour later we discovered that one of our passports was missing. Searched high and low. Contacted Police and the New Zealand Embassy. The embassy phoned Hostel Beautiful and where told thet we had not produced that passport. On hearing this we approached the front desk guy to see why they lied to our embassy and ask if we could see the registration documents ,,,he said he did not have them as they had gone to the police. On our insistance he finally produced their copy of the documentation showing that they had, in fact, seen this passport. We were left feeling totally cheated but did not know what do do..as were leaving next day. Will be carrying this on with our embassy. So needless to say would not recommend ever staying at this hostel.

"Hostel Beautiful" is way more than an overstatement. Probably my least favorite hostel I've ever stayed in, but it was adequate for my needs. Close to the train station (but dangerous neighborhood- I walked past a junkie leaning against a dumpster with blood dripping down his arm as he injected some drug into his hand with a dirty needle- YIKES!), the beds were clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I was in a 4-person, mixed room, and despite my earplugs and the running fan, the outside traffic was VERY loud. There is a small kitchen to use, and a small lounge with a TV, and a shared bathroom with three shower stalls and a toilet/extra storage room. I won't be staying here again, mostly because it's a scary location, and I've had much better hostels for less money.

Only I was one day in the hostel. The people of the staff were very nice and obliging. The cleanliness in the room was correct, as in the showers. It looked like to me a very calm place. The location is good, near Termini, though the zone is not very pretty, but it is less dangerous than seems.
