We stayed at youthostel firenze 2000 as a family and had a great experience. The staff was excellent, I had a lot of email questions before our visit and they always answered quickly and with good advice and web links. While were were there, we got excellent suggestions on where to eat and how to do something. It was very clean and quiet, good for our family (we were not looking for group fun with other hostellers). A very good value!

Excellent budget accommodation ten minutes walk from the centre of town. Location is actually a plus, since the district south of the river tends to be much more Italian, with better restaurants and friendlier service at a much lower cost than the city centre.

The staff at the desk were extremely helpful, not to mention kind. Even though the location wasn't so great, there was a bus stop right nearby. And the staff handed out a map and guided us.

We booked a private room so we had our own very nice bathroom, our own keys and no worries about security. Air conditioning is available for a fee, as is internet. It's not exactly in town, but on a good bus route and a nice walk to nearby sites. The one major drawback is that this "hostel" offers absolutely no cooking facilities - not even a fridge or a community microwave - which we found to be rather strange and disappointing, especially considering the cheap and relatively high quality grocery stores nearby. It was definitely a nice place to stay, but it's not going to help you with your food budget or give you a place to keep a cold drink on a sweltering day.
I enjoyed staying at the hostel and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the location which was slightly out of the centre of Florence. But I enjoyed my stay and would go back there when I visit Florence again.
