Free internet is good and the drink vouchers. The food is pretty good too and the staff are very friendly. The only real negatives are the old/cold shower room and the amount of street noise you get in the front room. It certainly has a lot of traditional guesthouse character too.

This Japanese style hostel is fantastic! We stayed in a tatami mat room with futons and it was an excellent experience. There are kitchen facilities and laundry facilities right there on site and one of my favorite aspects was a public bath or sento only a few meters away. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a night in Kyoto.
