The Civic Guest House is centrally located in downtown Townsville, a short 5 minute stroll to Flinders Mall and a 15 minute walk to the Strand (beach) and Palmer Street (restaurant precinct). The famous 'Goat Track' to Castle Hill is only a few blocks away.
We offer free pick-up (at 2pm and 7pm) and drop-off (at 9:45am and 11am) to/from the Greyhound bus terminal and the ferry terminal to Magnetic Island. Please note that pick-ups and drop-offs need to be booked 24 hours prior arrival/departure.
Outside of these hours you can catch the city bus n.200 or 201, which will pick you up in front of the Greyhound/Ferry terminal and drop you off one block away from the hostel for $1.70.
From the airport, the shuttle bus company called Con-X-ion will drop you off in front of the Civic Guest House for $10. Their counter is located on the right side of the main exit door near the baggage claim area. Alternatively a taxi will cost you between $20 and $25. Make sure to ask the driver to go via Ingham Road as it makes it a shorter ride.
If you are arriving by car, follow the signs to downtown. Walker Street is one street back from the main street (Sturt Street).
If you are walking from the Greyhound terminal, walk towards town past the ReefHQ Aquarium and follow Flinders Street until you hit Stanley Street. Turn right into Stanley and then left into Walker Street.
FREE PARKING
Parking on the street in front of the hostel is free from 5pm to 9am on week days and free on weekends. Alternatively there are free spaces a short 2 minute walk away, which can be used during the day. Simply ask reception upon arrival.
