I can recommend City Hostel Flora: it's clean, has good prizes, a good location, good security (24h-doorsman) and large rooms. I missed the social life and interactions with other guests unfortunately: the common room wasn't used by anyone, the billard table was missing balls and sticks (or how you call them ...) and so on. Very good location (parallel to a major street). The only down was that to speak to someone in English, we have to ask to a guy to call someone (from a central service) (about 5 minutes). Everything else was fantastic! A very good bathroom (although shared) and a very clean/modern kitchen (again shared), where we could cook/eat... Joao, from Portugal ~ 6th Aug 2010
