We booked a double bedroom with a bathrom inside. During the day there was no problem but in the evening cockroaches came out and ran not only around the bathroom but also in the bedroom. The bathroom was full of them, I just could not go to the toilet. At 1 am we packed our things and left the hostel and found a wonderful hotelroom with half price of the hostel room, 5 minutes away from the center, clean and with a very helpful staff. A little hidden, but the cab drivers all know where it is.The staff was very helpful.It has a GREAT location within walking distance of the old part of town and on a bus line that goes to the train station (which has a bus transfer to the airport!).Would definitely stay again. This hostel is very simple. I stayed there three nights in a dorm. It was cheap, warm, and comfortable. Nothing fancy. However, the staff was just average. They weren't very friendly, just doing their job. Public showers were great! Bathrooms were pretty good for China. They had wifi all over the hostel, which was really nice. I'd recommend it, if you want to stay somewhere cheap in Harbin. Not very safe, I saw lockers, but just a few and not in the rooms- not sure how to use them. J, from USA ~ 12th Jan 2013

Public bathroom REEKED.The bathroom in my private room had someone else's hair still all over the floor.There was overcrowding in common areas and it was difficult to ask questions of the overworked staff.Worst of all was there was not enough water for everyone.We were not always able to shower and we had to brush our teeth in bottled water because the hostel did not have enough water for all of its guests and water service to all floors above ground level was suspended.
