So close to bus and train stations! Very cute place with spacious rooms and big windows for some natural light. Actually met 4 other solo female travellers all in the same room, which is rare, so I found the setting great for meeting others. Sharon, from Canada ~ 16th Apr 2013

As a regular Hostel user around Ireland, I would welcome the option of there being Male Only Vs Female Only Dorm type bedrooms & Male Only Vs Female Only Toilet & Shower facilities. Perhaps it could be a unique selling tool for Killarney Railway Hostel as I do recognise that many hostels had changed to Mixed dorm types over the last 15yrs but I think some hostelsare now having to revert some of their dorms back to Male Only and Female Only as not everyone feels comfortable in these situations Peter, from Ireland ~ 7th Sep 2012

Great staff! They were very accommodating in recommending places to eat and things to see. They even had an extra adapter for me to borrow to plug in my laptop while checking email.Very clean bathroom attached to my room and free towels!Secure parking on a quiet street.Lively atmosphere in the common room when we came back at night, but not enough to keep me awake.Only a few blocks to the town center. great atmosphere, comfy beds, nice price (13e for a bed in 10 dorms room). The kitchenware is old, the living room is small and the dining room is not really confortable. The breakfast is simple (bred, cereals and jam). The free parking is limited to a few places. Colin, from France ~ 22nd Aug 2012

The kitchen was quite dirty, especially the paellas. Guillem, from Spain ~ 12th Aug 2012

The hostel itself is nothing remarkable. The room was relatively clean. The bed was not excessively uncomfortable. Didn't venture into the kitchen, so can't comment. Communal shower room with private stalls - same for the toilet room. Staff seemed to keep the common areas clean. Great staff. They were friendly, helpful and accommodating but I imagine they will destroy you if you disrespect them or their hostel. Brekk, from USA ~ 7th Aug 2012

The blankets were musty and unwashed, beds were uncomfortable, very limited parking (with little/reluctant help from staff), noisy, other guests were unfriendly (I counted three separate unhappy guests loudly arguing with staff as in the 10mins that I tried to check out) and the bells at the monastery across from the hostel rang at odd times throughout the day and night (did anyone order a 6:23am wake up call?!) This hostel was in an excellent location. Really quick walk to the main center of Killarney. The guy at the front desk was super nice and accomodating. The room was a great size, I had a private room so im not sure what the dorm type rooms look like, but it was great. I would definitely recommend people to stay here. Very nice hostel, great location and value for money. No oven in the kitchen but otherwise you will find everything you need there. Martina, from Czech Republic ~ 31st May 2012
