To the owner of the Pacifica Hotel: When it comes to travel accommodations, if the price is right, I'm willing to put up with limited privacy, general shabbiness, and any number of minor discomforts and inconveniences. What I am NOT willing to put up with is bed bugs chewing on my face all night. You have a bed bug infestation, and you clearly knew about it long before I showed up at your pit of a hotel. I checked in March 18. Have immediately seen there are issues of cleanliness. There was dust all over the place. I haven't checked the other reviews not before I booked the hostel / hotel. Have actually not ever seen such a place - not even in third world countries - and this is California. After a while I started to wonder where all these itching bites on my body came from. A nice place, in the middle of the Gaslamp district. Very clean bathrooms and toilets. There are some older men staying there (permanent stayers?), who are very grumpy. The best location in downtown! Located in the heart of gaslamp quarter, and this is a very cheap place to stay- around 45$ a day. The place is very quiet, i haven't noticed any other customers although stayed there for a week.One big minus is the bad smell of old building and room was quite dusty. And I am not sure that sheets were clean. But overall if you want to find a cheap place in center and not going to spend all the time in the room, it's a not bad place to stay. Great place. Would definitely stay there again. Went to San Diego for a conference and this place was one of the cheapest and very close to the convention centre. It is right in the centre of the city, close to everything. Was clean and safe, highly recommended! Gustavo, from Brazil ~ 28th Jul 2012

Great location, safe, and clean. However it was loud, smelled of indian food and old people, and had no AC. I would stay there again if I absolutely had to, but would try to find other places first. You just can't beat the price and location. lucas, from USA ~ 27th Jul 2012
